As schools continue to increase not only the number of devices in their buildings but the amount of time students spend using those devices, empowered student usage of those devices is paramount to the success of such initiatives.
Just because a school has a 1:1 or bring your own device (BYOD) program does not necessarily mean that students are using devices appropriately or to the fullest educational extent. Teachers often do not have the necessary support and training to make full use of devices in their daily instruction and, without guidance, students are often easily distracted or frustrated when using any devices.
Digital citizenship is not only about knowing how to interact as a productive member of a digital society but how to use technology for the benefit of everyone. On this page, I’ve collected and created a number of resources that I encourage you to explore as you continue on your digital citizenship journey. Whether you are expanding a digital citizenship program or you are just beginning one at your school, I hope that you will find something here that helps you.
If you have any recommendations, please reach out to me and I will add them here.
